The HSDC’s (Humane Society of DeKalb County) spay/neuter voucher program requires co-pays of $10 per cat and $20 per dog. Call 615-464-6738. Available while grant funds last. A Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Clinic has been established by the Humane Society of Putnam County, Inc. to serve the 14 Upper Cumberland counties in Middle TN. It is located in Cookeville, TN. To make an appointment, call 931-372-2728. Their clinic prices are: Female Dog - $65, Male Dog - $55, Female Cat - $55, Male Cat - $40, Umbilical Hernia Repair - $10. There is no extra charge if an animal is pregnant or in heat! Proof of rabies vaccination is required or shot will be given and a charge of $8 will be added. The Cookeville/Putnam County Animal Shelter is sharing grant funding with other middle TN counties. There is a short application to complete and you must show proof of low-income. Mail the completed form to them and make an appointment at either the DeKalb Animal Clinic or Animal Clinic of Smithville. Your co-pay is only $15 to $20 and there will be no extra charge to you if the pet is in heat or pregnant. Call 931-526-3647 for more information and an application. Freckles’ Friends is bringing the Mobile Spay Station of the Humane Association of Wilson County to DeKalb County once each month in 2008. You must show proof of financial need. To qualify, you must participate in one of the following programs: SSI, Medicaid, Disability, Unemployment, Public Housing, Food Stamps or Families First.
