Entry for November 17, 2008
Hi All,
I got to spend the day with Kim yesterday. We snuggled on the couch and walked a lot! She gave me a bath and I smell soooooo good. I really miss her when she's working but it won't me much longer now.
We had several calls this week:
11/12 - Patty called to report a stray dog with 6 puppies.
11/12 - Someone called for spay station appointments for 1 female dog and 4 cats but did not leave their name.
11/12 - Doris called for a spay station appointment for a male dog.
11/13 - Tina called for spay/neuter vouchers for 2 dogs.
11/14 - Tonya called for a spay station appointment for a male dog.
That's all for now. Have a great week!

Hi Friends!
This is a picture of me and Durward at the park. I love to go to the park and even get to get my feet wet in the lake! Kim and Durward have been working lots and lots and I miss them terribly. But I'm in charge of the cats while they are gone and I take my responsibility very seriously. Miss Pat comes by a lot and makes sure we are all ok. Tazzy is really sick right now with something called anemia caused by a parasite of some sort. I don't understand all of this but I sure hope she'll be ok. Kim and Durward bottle-fed her when she was a baby. That was 14 years ago! Tazzy is really old! I don't like for Kim to be so upset and it makes me anxious. Well, I just wanted to let you all know why we missed blogging last week and to ask for your prayers for Tazzy. I know a lot of my friends prayed for me when I was lost and it really helped so maybe you'll pray for Tazzy too?
Here are the calls we've gotten since last time:
10/27 - Josey called to report a dog that is starving and has several puppies. Her owner isn't taking care of her. Kim asked her to call the Sheriff's Department and the Humane Society of DeKalb County. Their president is trained in animal cruelty investigation and the sheriff should prosecute for animal cruelty.
10/28 - Heather called for a spay station appointment for a male dog.
10/28 - Linda called for a voucher to get a female dog spayed.
10/31 - Heidi called for spay station appointments for a male dog and a female dog.
10/31 - Sandra called for a spay station appointment for a male cat.
11/4 - Andrea called for a spay station appointment for 5 female cats and a couple of male cats.
11/4 - Angela called for a spay station appointment for 3 cats.
11/5 - Lindsay called for directions to a local vet.
11/5 - Liza called for spay station appointments for 2 cats.
11/5 - Valerie called with yard sale donations but we've had our last yard sale for this year.
11/5 - Janice called needing assistance catching a mama cat who had her kittens near Janice's house.
11/6 - Paul called needing a voucher to get a female dog spayed.
11/7 - Paula called for a spay station appointment for a female cat.
11/7 - Mary called for help getting a female dog spayed.
The spay station will be back in town on November 24th and we hope to bring it back again in December too. Kim has applied for grant funding for next year so cross your paws!

FALL YARD SALE - NOVEMBER 1ST - We need volunteers to help! Durward & Kim have to work Saturday. Pat is in charge & needs help. Call Pat at 615-683-8360 if you can help. The picture is of last years yard sale and as you can see, it takes a LOT of work to get it set up. Please make plans to help out.
We only had 5 calls this week:
10/20 - Shirley called for a spay voucher for a cat.
10/21 - Stacy called for a spay voucher for a cat.
10/21 - Lindsay called for a voucher to get a male cat neutered.
10/23 - Clementine called for help getting 2 dogs neutered that she found starving at one of the marinas at Center Hill Lake. Someone had apparently left them and they have been lost and starving for some time. Clementine has a good heart but already has a LOT of dogs. Contact us if you can help her by giving a good dog a home.
10/23 - Phyllis called for a spay voucher for a dog that she rescued.
There are some really nice people around here but there are also some really not nice people too. It's sad that some people don't take responsibility for their pets and instead of getting them neutered, let them have litters and then abandon them. If you see anyone 'dropping off' a dog or cat, please get a good description (preferably with license plate number) and call the sheriff's department. Pet abandonment is against the law for good reason!
Hope you all have a wonderful week,
Freckles
Entry for October 19, 2008 - Call-in Line Update

Hi Everybody,
Freckles here again on a gorgeous day in Tennessee. Kim and I just took a long walk and I sniffed out several critters. Sandman and Callie went along of course. Sometimes I wish they'd stay home and let me have Kim all to myself but they're not too much bother. Sandman sometimes wants to rub against me and gets in my face. I'm nice and just pull away but when I'm trying to do my business it really messes with my concentration!
We didn't have many calls this week:
10/13 - Carol called for a spay voucher for a friend's dog.
10/13 - Nancy called for a voucher for a cat and when Kim called her, she actually issued vouchers for 2 cats.
10/15 - Carolyn called for information about assistance programs for her father in Humphreys County, TN. Kim talked to her for a while and thought the best thing would be to call the Humane Association of Wilson County's number (615-444-1144) and see if their mobile spay station might go as far west as Dickson.
Well, that was all for the week. Hope you are all enjoying the same weather we have here. It is sooooo beautiful outside that I'm hoping to take another long walk after I rest a bit.
Ya'll have a great week!

Winnie, the little dachshund, has a new home! If you saw her on MySpace, you don't need to worry anymore. She has a great new home with a lady that works in a veterinarian's office near Rockwood, TN.
We got the following calls last week:
10/6 - Nicki called for an assistance voucher for her aunt's male cat. Nicki is also a cub scout troop leader and is going to help collect MVP cards for the Food Lion Shop and Share program! This will be a terrific service project for the scouts and will really help us a lot.
10/7 - Lydia called for a voucher for a female dog that her son found and wants to keep. I'm so glad these nice people are giving her a home!
10/7 - Jennifer called for a voucher but Kim hasn't been able to get in touch with her yet.
10/7 - Bonnie called for a voucher for a stray cat that she wants to help. Bonnie is sooooooooo nice!
10/7 - Charlene called for a voucher for a cat. Kim is still trying to get in touch with her.
10/7 - Rhonda called for 2 vouchers for cats.
10/9 - Brenda called for spay station appointments for 3 pets but she didn't say if they were dogs or cats! Kim couldn't reach her Friday but she'll try again tomorrow.
Our yard sale on November 1st in Smithville, TN will help pay for more spay/neuter vouchers. If you can help, please call Pat at 615-683-8360.
Ya'll have a great week!
